Background

LJM Environmental Law & Consulting was established in 1995 as one of the first law practices devoted exclusively to environmental law and policy. Lisa Mitchell launched LJM Environmental after completing her law degree (Dalhousie 1991) and a Masters in Environmental Studies (Dalhousie 1994). The company was born from Lisa’s interest in developing a Nova Scotia based practice dedicated to environmental law and based on promoting the principles of sustainable development.

Over the years, LJM has developed a vast network of experts in an array of fields including biological and physical sciences, engineering, social science, policy and planning. LJM has a reputation for working collaboratively which enables us to excel at ensuring our clients have access to the best and brightest.

Our focus is law but our approach is interdisciplinary.

LJM has developed a broad range of clients including governments, non-government organizations, private-sector companies and individuals. The company focus has always been to work closely with our clients to get at the root of their concerns and find the best solutions.

Environmental law crosses many fields and LJM has experience in all aspects of environmental law including agriculture, contaminated sites, environmental impact assessment, land use planning, alternative energy, and water regulation to name a few.

LJM has worked with a variety of industry, government and public interest groups over the years to find mutually satisfactory solutions to environmental issues that involve the development or review of environmental laws.

Our aim is to provide our clients with clear and concise information to respond to their questions and concerns and to ensure lasting solutions.
